A breakfast lecture series for the creative community
July 26th 2024, 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM GMT+2 • @ Brutus
With Harry Sidiropoulos
// This event is hosted & presented in English //
Join us for another creative breakfast!
Breakfast starts at 8:30am with a little networking, followed by an intimate and personal talk from a selected Creative from this city. This month it's Harry Sidiropoulos of
Spark Rotterdam.
The global theme for July is TRUST. It was chosen by the Islamabad chapter and illustrated by Ibrahim Nasir.
Trust is the invisible thread that weaves the fabric of our relationships and society together. But, in turbulent times, doubt can unravel our strengths. So, go with your gut. Put your trust in a higher power, in our institutions, and in karma. Believe that people will do the right thing. Trust the process. And that your creativity is a well that will never run dry.
When we trust each other, we feel safe to share ideas, give feedback, and take risks. It requires vulnerability and a willingness to be open to the possibility of disappointment or betrayal. So, trust is not purely belief or faith. It is an active choice.
Trust is a gift. It must be given before it can be earned.
Harry Sidiropoulos is an engineer by trade and by way of life. He started making stuff with batteries, motors, Lego, playdough, and spaghetti with often messy or explosive results. At some point, he realized he can make stuff up on stage, improvising with other people with far fewer chances of electrocution!!! Improv theatre became his safe space to explore his relation with his authentic self and his connection with other people, accept his disability and rediscover his playfulness. His work on stage incorporates strong physicality, emotional characters, laser shooting T-Rexs, zombies, and pew-pew noises. He co-founded Spark Rotterdam with Salomé Attias, an Improv theatre school in Rotterdam, he teaches Improv weekly, and he performs in the Netherlands, Europe and his shower.
Join us to explore how important trust is on stage and in life, to support each other, and face uncertainty. In Improv theatre, when you are on stage, you need to dive into the sea of uncertainty, trusting that your co-performers will dive with you on the same spot in this sea of possibilities. And you need to accept that you will almost certainly fail, hit the bottom, get eaten by a shark, run out of air, or realise the sea is lava. In these cases, you still need to trust that your co-performers will be there to save you.
So wear some comfy clothes, take a deep breath and come dive together on Friday, July 26.
