Join us for another creative breakfast!

Breakfast starts at 8:30 AM with a little networking, followed by an intimate and personal talk from a selected creative from this city.

This month it's Sarah van Overeem.

Our theme for August is NAKLAH.  It was chosen by the Creative Mornings Khobar chapter in Saudi Arabia and illustrated by Rahaf Al-Badri.

Nakhlah نخلة (pronounced NAKH·lah) is an Arabic word meaning “palm.”

When a storm hits, palm trees bend with the wind while other trees break and fall.

So, in times of adversity, look to the palm for inspiration to sustain your creative practice. The spongy fibers of its trunk are not rigid; they flex instead of snapping. The palm also depends on its network of roots spread wide under the ground; just as we all need a network of people supporting us as we grow.

About the speaker

Sarah van Overeem is Head of Development & Partnerships at Kunsthal Rotterdam. She builds collaborations with funders, foundations and business partners to make ambitious artistic projects possible. Previously, she worked at Kunstinstituut Melly, also in Rotterdam, where she developed a strong interest in the social role of contemporary art. Living in The Hague and working in Rotterdam, Sarah is passionate about creating meaningful collaborations, future-proofing cultural institutions, and exploring how creativity can help shape a more inclusive society.
